Emblematic of the Forks’ geography and history as a
confluence and meeting place, Sandbox Stories’ intersecting,
rectilinear forms interrupt the sloped lawn to create a
multi-sided meeting place for summer fun and relaxation.
In one direction, the cross extends from the slope to create a bench and a sign. In the other, running across the slope, the intervention produces a simple edge for a sandbox. Atop this piece rests gridded shelving that houses a collection of colorful custom sandcastle molds shaped in the likeness of important local buildings.
