Picnic Room takes inspiration from the summer picnic. The picnic in its myriad formats—including barbecues, fish fries, crawfish boils, and block parties—is an everyday American pastime that has historically brought communities together to share in play and celebration. Picnic Room reimagines the common gingham blanket or tablecloth as a large communal table that hosts many different seating options to accommodate a range of ages and abilities. Picnic Room is an inclusive piece of urban furniture that will provide the neighborhood residents a fun and playful place to rest, converse, play, eat and enjoy the pedestrian streetscape.
